Village Peop … er Chicken

Beyond meat, Impossible meat … why bother? Why not just eat plants and lick a cow for taste? No, this is not a vege evangelism so don’t run off. This is about the the blind leading the blind. Conscientious and health freak KFC lovers will be able to choose to choke their plant based BFC (Beyond Fried Chicken) starting Jan 10 at all KFC locations. Ok fine “choke back”. There seems to be such a drive to eat meat like food … of plant based origin that the industry is projected to be worth $18.5B by 2028.

I am very confused. Why not just eat the plants? Really wanna get your fake on … er fake meat on … at … fer gawd’s sake … Fakemeats.com?

There are plenty of arguments and counters for plant based meat. It is healthier for humans, better for the environment, actually has dietary fiber, tastes pretty good … but has more sodium, has hidden and perhaps harmful ingredients, packs the same number of calories and has similar effects as meat when chased with french fries and soda. What tickles my funny bone though is Mr. Brown, the chief executive of Impossible Foods, actually said “The niche that this fills is not the same niche that a kale salad fills. If you’re hungry for a burger and you want something that’s better for you and better for the planet that delivers everything you want from a burger, then this is a great product. But if you’re hungry for a salad, eat a salad.”…
